History
The original foundation of the Monroe House was built sometime in the mid 1800s, and since the day the soil was broken, countless people involved with the home have experienced strange activity that paranormal investigators have described as “demonic.” Researchers point to former tenants fiddling with occult rituals in the 90s as a potential cause of the Demon House’s nefarious activity, but others say that the strange phenomena began as early as the 30s, when the house was owned by a Belgian family who began to report ghostly visitations in the home.
In 2014, a team of ghost hunters decided to spend the night investigating the Monroe House. They had come with the intention of “crossing over” the spirit of a young child that reportedly haunted the building. Their investigation remained relatively routine until they reached the basement, when things went south. “We had a very bad encounter in the basement and didn’t know what to do,” one researcher wrote. “This was something we have never seen before. It caused everybody to panic and we decided to call off the investigation early. Half of the group said this was to much for them , the other half wanted answers. We realized the how serious and big this was and at the same time was convinced we were not experienced enough to do this in a house like this.” The team never returned.
The Mysterious Monroe House started as an abounded house up for sale. It was purchased by Eddie and Pam Norris to be refurbished and used as a rental property. As Eddie went into the house to work and refurbish strange things started happening, including noises, shadows, and voices. Eddie then hired several contractors to help out with the house. Several times he went to check on the progress to find that the contractors had left there tools and did not want to return, even saying keep the tools, and that house is haunted! After discussion, Eddie and Pam Norris and Pam’s sister Sheri Stewart contacted Doorways Investigation Group (DIG) to come and investigate the home.
As DIG started the first ever investigation in the home, they got some of the most compelling and unbelievable experiences ever!
With lights turning on and off for no reason. A unpowered garbage disposal turned on by itself. Kitchen fan turned on by itself. Lights in the upstairs bathroom turning blue for no reason. The lights being regular soft white lights. Voices heard with our own ears, seeing black shadow people, full body aberrations, class A evps like no other.
After this amazing night DIG continued the investigations for years, with no other teams was allowed in. After many investigations and videos from DIG, people wanted to see it for themselves. After discussion DIG and the Mysterious Monroe House owners opened the house up for private investigations. After this every team or individuals who attended got the same experiences. The house became a true haunting in Indiana.
Now before we opened the house up to others, Doorways Investigation Group and Eddie and Pam Norris found many documents and facts of all the horrific and dark experiences that happened in the home over the years. From deaths, serial killer, hidden things in the walls, bones in the crawl space, to a necklace bound with red hair which was known to be ritual. As DIG and the Monroe House owners and Sheri Stewart got deeper into the houses secrets the darker and more aggressive it got. Good spirits and darker entities are active in the house. Some of us having the spirits follow us home messing with our lives and causing mischief. To those who have attended the house and those who watch the videos and hear the audio have tried calling it the Demon house, but we in no way represent the house as that.
Now to the present, Eddie and Pam Norris and DIG are making the Mysterious Monroe House into a paranormal research location and a museum. The Mysterious Monroe House Hauntings is truly the greatest true haunting in Indiana and is still being documented and investigated by DIG. In rarity everything about the Monroe House has been documented and had documentation and factual evidence to back all the stories up. As the years continue, so does finding of new secrets and evidence in the home. Thus the name Mysterious Monroe House Hauntings.
